Construction and maintenance update - July 2026

Maintenance activity is ongoing across Auckland Central and Silo marinas, with routine safety inspections, water blasting, and general upkeep continuing to support a safe and tidy environment. If you see anything that needs attention, please get in touch with the marina team.

Refurbishment of floating structures at Auckland Central Marina is continuing in targeted sections. Works are staged to minimise disruption, typically affecting only one or two vessels at a time. Impacted berth holders are contacted directly. This programme includes renewal of timber walers, steel through-rods, and structural framing to extend the service life of these key assets.

Halsey Wharf bollard load testing is now complete. Testing of Wynyard Wharf bollards will be carried out as occupancy permits, with advance notice provided to affected parties where required. This testing helps ensure the ongoing integrity and performance of these assets.

During the quieter winter period, handrails are being installed on gangways at Auckland Central Marina. This will bring these gangways in line with the standard across our wider marina network.

Over the next 12 months, we will be replacing corroded I-beam piles along Te Wero Island. This work will require one or two adjacent berths to be temporarily vacated while each pile is replaced. Dates will be shared with affected vessel owners closer to the time.

At Silo Marina, selected sections of steel reinforcing flitch plates between timber walers will be replaced over the coming months. While these plates retain their structural strength, ongoing flexing can cause coatings to crack, leading to surface rust and staining. New sections are currently under fabrication and will be installed as part of this year’s maintenance programme.
